DocuMentorMe 2022 Applications Now Open!
Applications Due July 25!
Applications for the fourth year of DocuMentorMe are now open! Have you ever wanted to make a documentary? Have a story you've been wanting to tell? We'd love to hear your ideas!
DocuMentorMe is a free 15-week program that provides an opportunity to explore the creative art of storytelling through documentary media production. Selected participants will receive training and mentoring on narrative expression and basic documentary production and will produce a 5 minute documentary on a subject of personal, cultural, or community importance. Participants will have access to our professional community media team and resources, including production facilities, equipment, training, and the mentoring needed to develop their artistic and technical skills to continue their storytelling journey in making digital media. No prior documentary or media making experience is required.
Participants who complete the program will receive a $1600 stipend to offset time and travel.
This year we will be accepting 10 applicants. Applicants who live in San José, and who are underrepresented in mainstream media, including those who are Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), people living with low incomes, and people of other underserved communities will be prioritized.
Classes – Saturdays August 10 through December 3 (excluding November 26); 10 am - 1 pm
Final Screening Event - Saturday December 10, 2021
(Please note: participants must be able to attend all required classes and the final screening to participate in the program and will need to dedicate time outside of class to work on their documentaries and complete homework assignments.)
Applications are due July 25.
