DocuMentorMe Applications Open

We are excited to announce the return of DocuMentorMe program! It's a free 15-week program for adults that provides an opportunity to explore the creative art of storytelling through documentary media production.

Selected participants will receive training and mentoring on narrative expression, basic documentary production, and will produce a 5-minute documentary/nonfiction film/video essay on a subject of personal, cultural, or community importance. Participants will embark on this program with a cohort of other documentary artists learning alongside each other. Participants will have access to our professional community media team and resources, including equipment, training, and the mentoring needed to develop the artistic and technical skills necessary to continue their storytelling journey in making digital media. No prior documentary or media making experience is required!

Participants who complete the program will receive a $1600 stipend to offset time and travel.

Applicants who live in San José, and who are underrepresented in mainstream media, including those who are Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), people living with low incomes, and people of other underserved communities will be prioritized. Projects are accepted based on eligibility and capacity.
